Science & Technology Communication/Awareness among
Students, Teachers and General Mass through Folk Media (Puppetry)
Shanti Sewa Samiti recognized a critical gap in scientific knowledge and rational thinking among various communities. While younger generations benefit from formal education, older generations often rely on outdated traditions and customs. To bridge this gap, the organization emphasizes the need for non-formal education and science communication outside traditional school settings. Through the innovative use of folk media, such as puppetry, the project aims to enhance public understanding of modern science and address pressing social issues. This approach is designed to make science education relevant and practical, helping communities address real-world problems effectively.
Objectives
Raise awareness about the causes and effects of unsafe water and poor hygiene practices.
Increase nutritional knowledge among women and adolescent girls to prevent iron deficiency anemia.
Reduce the incidence of child marriages by educating communities on its negative consequences.
Foster scientific thinking to tackle everyday problems using evidence-based approaches.
Promote cleanliness and hygiene habits among school students and the general public.
Utilise puppetry and folk media to effectively communicate scientific concepts and raise awareness about malnutrition and balanced diets.
